ON TREND: MAKE AN IMPACT WITH DESIGN

Design trends are the cornerstone of any interior design journey, from picking paint colors to accent furniture pieces; a lot goes into the design of a home. So it’s important to analyze design trends and decide which ones speak to you.

Follow our lead as we take you through the most popular interior design trends happening now.

HOME OFFICE MUST HAVES

Think back to January 2020: what a simpler time it was then. You may have been commuting to an office every day, not knowing that soon you will be working from home for the foreseeable future. But now we are here, it’s 2021, and you NEED an upgraded home office, but may not know where to start. Here are four must-haves for your new home work space:

  1. Storage, storage, storage: Save time by making space for anything that you need readily available to create the best work environment and limit distractions. Make ample desk space for your computer, printer, and scanner. Create cabinets for essential information, and don’t forget about excess office supplies!

  2. File organization: Even if you don’t have many physical files (hello paperless!) it is still a good idea to have a file drawer or two in your home office. If you do need to print something, you know you won’t lose it because it will be neatly filed in the correct place.

  3. Cord organization: Nothing gives a feeling of aesthetic unease like unorganized computer cords. Get a large power strip and mark each one so you know what plug matches with what electronic device, and thread the cords through your desk so they stay in one place. Beautiful!

  4. Labels: Add labels to everything. This will prevent losing important documents, mixing up client files, and general disorganization.

ORGANIZING IN SMALL SPACES

Did you know that 80% of the clutter in most homes is a result of disorganization, not lack of space? You may think that a small closet, garage, or pantry presents a challenge because of the size, but we have some solutions:

  • Create an item list containing every item you need storage for in the specific area. This way you are able to highlight bigger items that take up much of the space, and put the small items into categories for seamless storage.

  • Install custom shelving. In a small space especially, you may think custom is a want, when it is, in fact, a need. This is the only way you will be able to use all of the space available to you.

  • Use your depth (to your advantage). If you have more length and less depth, you will need more shelving and small drawers to create ideal storage space. If you have more depth and less length, you will need deeper drawers and baskets to take advantage without the risk of misplacing items.

Small spaces are unique, but they do not have to be challenging! Our dealers are experts at creating organizers that work in any space. Find a dealer near you.
